Requiem for a Fox is a dreamlike story of a fox who dances the fraught dualism between wilderness and modernity. Following a series of encounters with personifications of the moon, grief, and high-rises, fox becomes lost and astray, ultimately perishing in the city and then returned to the forest where he is reintegrated into the land’s regenerative cycle. The film attends to the complex artifice dividing the human and more-than-human word, and the perplexing place of the folkloric trickster (fox) in modern times.
